Insight Training

Enrollment in this course is by invitation only

About This Course

Insight is an online portal through which faculty can access information that they need to better support students they are advising. It is also a place to record notes on meetings that faculty have with students. The aim of recording advising notes in Insight is to create a record of a student’s advising contacts—both the issues discussed and the advice provided. This “institutional memory” as created through the advisor notes section of Insight will summarize the student’s contact with members of the academic team. Granting these members access to that information is believed to improve support efficiency, increase the continuity and coherence of team members’ conversations with the student, and provide the student a more personal sense of contact, whether the student is seeing the same faculty member again, or a new faculty member.

Before you can use insight, you need to complete an online training. The training takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. When you have completed the training please e-mail srabie@sgu.edu to have your access to insight instated.
